Product Description
EX Deep was born out of necessity
Throughout the year, there are key seasons in most waters between 3 and 4 meters deep, a range that cannot be overlooked due to stable water temperatures and the abundance of bait. This 3-4 meter range can only be explored extensively with fast-moving lures. Cranks that typically dive down to 4 meters require a long retrieve distance, meaning they often have a large, heavy body and are equipped with a shifting center of gravity. However, on major lakes, on weekends when anglers are concentrated, or depending on the size of the bait, this type of lure simply cannot cover everything. This led us to strongly feel the need for a deep crankbait with a body size that transcends conventional standards. The EX-DR was developed with the goal of not only having a compact body but also not shifting the center of gravity. Eliminating the shifting center of gravity increases the development difficulty by several levels, as it requires both flight and swimming, but the resulting performance is irreplaceable. Because it does not require ribs to guide the weight, the lean body allows for a fast start, improves bite rates in stop-and-go situations, and maintains a sustained action that attracts bites even when slow. All action performance has been improved, including the ability to withstand higher speeds even when retrieved quickly. The challenge of achieving a weight of 12g without shifting the center of gravity has been overcome, and the lure has been set up to achieve a casting distance of 4m. The body has been narrowed slightly in width, adopting a vertically flattened shape that is resistant to tough conditions and has a shad-like silhouette. The sides are semi-flat, which makes it easy to generate vibrations and flashing, appealing to a wide range of bass and creating an opportunity for them to bite. A deep crank that defies conventional wisdom has been born, smoothly reaching 4m in a flash while maintaining a natural action with a shad-like liveliness to lure tough bass.
Comment from the editorial department
Basser Editor-in-Chief Sasaki:
This is probably the hard bait that has caught the most bass over the past 10 years. Of course, you can cast it and just reel it in, but my favorite way to use it is to drag it with a 0.6 PE line and spinning tackle. As long as there are bass at a depth of 6-7m, you can catch them one after another!
Basser Editorial Department Tanigawa:
This is probably one of the hard lures I use most to catch bass. Despite its small size, it dives quickly and can be reeled firmly along the angled bank of a reservoir. If you lose sight of a bass in a stained or muddy reservoir, I recommend reeling it in while drifting along the bank.
Editorial Department Arai:
As a local of Ushiku Lake, this crank is an essential lure when fishing in unfamiliar reservoirs. Its size makes it easy to get the fish to bite, and its diving depth is unmatched. I'd love to throw it at Lake Tsukui or Lake Takataki.
