Product Description

The advantages of suspending lures are stay-put and casting distance. Conversely, floating lures surpass suspending lures in all other areas. This is true not only for the Dunk, but for all plugs. Casting distance is certainly important and directly correlates to fishing results. However, as with the Dunk, depending on the design, it's possible for a floating lure to beat a suspending shad of the same class. Furthermore, by utilizing the "floating" technique unique to floating lures, you can develop a completely different approach, making it a completely different lure. The Dunk SP was originally a unique, ultra-aggressive small shad with outstanding casting distance and snaglessness, capable of approaching cover without fear. The floating design further enhanced its snaglessness while maintaining above-average casting distance for a small shad. Furthermore, the pitch speed of a floating lure is physically superior, making it extremely appealing. By incorporating a "floating" motion during the retrieve, you can even capture suspended bass. Another feature is that you can take more time with each cast than with a suspending lure. It's effective against slow-moving bass during cold water temperatures. Depending on the situation, you can swim the lure 20-30cm and then let it float for 2-3 seconds. By using "floating fishing," you can keep the lure visible for a long time while it's moving, which can entice bass that wouldn't otherwise chase it to bite. "Floating fishing" is a technique that's possible only with the Dunk, which has a fast swimming start and a high number of swings even over a short distance. Conditions that tend to attract many suspending bass include when the surface water temperature is warmer than the bottom during cold water temperatures, after spawning, or when there is shady structure on the surface. At times like these, even a slight change in the target range can make a big difference in your catch. The Dunk F is the only bait that will attract bass that are out of reach of suspending models or regular shads.

Comment from the editorial department

Basser Editor-in-Chief Sasaki:

I prefer floating Dunk lures to suspending lures. I often use them in shallow waters. Pull it slowly, stop when it touches the bottom, and let it float... it really hits home when you pull it slowly. It's a lifesaver when you're struggling.

Basser Editorial Department Tanigawa:

During a planning and editorial department battle for Basser , my partner in the same boat as me, Koyanaka ( aka Hyper Koyanaka) from our sales department, caught a monster over 2kg in the freezing cold of Lake Kasumigaura, which was a Dunk Kurogane. Since then, I have formed an equation in my mind: Lake Kasumigaura x winter x hard bottom = Dunk. I recommend dragging the worm along the bottom as if you're dragging it!

Editorial Department Arai:

As a local of Ushiku Numa, this is the lure I like to use in the Nishiyata River in autumn when the water temperature drops. I reel it in around the edge of the waterfowl in the lower reaches of the Nishiyata River, which is about 1m deep. It dives at a steeper angle than other shads, so it's easy to get the bass near the bottom of the waterfowl to bite. Another plus is that it's floating, so there's less risk of it getting snagged on rocks. My first choice would be Kurokin, and once the water clears up, I'll go for Real Smelt!
